Although I love yogurt, I have greatly reduced my intake of dairy products over the past ten years. Whether it’s because you can’t eat dairy products, whether you’re a vegan or for the pleasure of varying your diet and discovering flavours and textures, this vegan yogurt is great.

Use it in any smoothie or bowl recipe you’re used to making! Check out morning bowl recipes here.

An excellent nutritional intake

Interestingly, although this recipe is vegan, a single serving of 1/2 cup gives you a lot of calcium and iron. It also contains a lot of good fats thanks to cashew nuts and an interesting intake of protein, although it does not compare to that of Greek yogurt. It’s not a fight anyway, the idea is to have an alternative!

Dairy-free, coconut milk and soy-free yogurt

Vegan yogurts often contain tofu and coconut milk. I have deliberately developed a natural recipe, simple, easy and accessible. Make it the base of your morning bowls, desserts or sauces!

What is agar agar

Agar agar replaces gelatin, which comes from animal fats. Agar agar is a gelling product derived from algae. I buy it in the form of flakes and I incorporate it into my date puree or jams while the substances are still hot. It is important to mix well, to see whipping, and quickly, because the effect occurs very quickly. Find out here.

Steps

1
Done

Place cashews, almond milk, maple flakes, vanilla essence and lemon juice in an electric blender.
The nutri-bullet works very well. If in doubt about the power of the blender, soak the cashews the night before and drain them before making the recipe.

2
Done

Optional

You can open two capsules of probiotics and pour the contents into the blender. Do not put the capsule envelope in the blender.

3
Done

Blend for 2 to 3 minutes for a perfectly smooth, creamy texture. Grate the sides of the container a few times along the way. Put aside.

4
Done

Place water and agar agar flakes in a microwave-safe container. Mix briefly.
Heat for 20 seconds and mix again. Make it quick!

5
Done

Add the water and agar agar mixture to the rest of the ingredients very quickly (the gelling effect can come quickly). Blend for 30 to 60 seconds.

6
Done

Pour yogurt into a large container or 6 servings. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before enjoying.
